Boaters rescued from sinking catamaran
Three boaters were rescued on Thursday morning when the catamaran on which they were travelling began to take on water.
According to reports reaching our news centre, the occupants of the vessel were saved in a joint rescue operation between the US Coast Guard and a team from Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) in the BVI.
BVI News understands that the vessel in question began to take on water after running aground on rocks near Horseshoe Reef.
The occupants reportedly issued a distress call, prompting a swift response from emergency rescue teams. They were then rescued and transported to Tortola.
They did not sustain any serious injuries.

Well done VISAR 3 saved. This is good news to hear.
4.30am launch to Horseshoe Reef. 24/7 your there.
I cannot commend VISAR enough for their continued support and the safety net they provide these territorial waters for mariners. No matter what the weather or conditions, the orange boat will be there to rescue, help and provide medical assistance. A truly invaluable service and completely run by volunteers! VIVA VISAR!!
is hearsay. It would be better for the media reporter to speak face to face with the victims of this incident rather than rely on unidentified ‘reports’
Despite the poor reporting I’m glad there were no injuries or fatalities in this yacht grounding incident on the Horseshoe Reef.
