Branson’s Necker Cup raising funds to rebuild BVI

Sir Richard Branson

Businessman Richard Branson, through his charity organization and the annual Necker Cup Pro-Am tennis event, is seeking to raise funds to help rebuild the territory.

The money is expected to come specifically from a gala and auction which is a feature of the Necker Cup Pro-Am tennis event.

“All guests, pros and celebrities come together for the final night gala dinner and auction, where 100 percent of the money raised goes to supporting our beneficiaries, including the Virgin Unite efforts to rebuild the BVI’s,” according to a statement on Necker Cup website.

The annual Necker Cup is being held at the Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas and runs for a period of six days and five nights. It started on November 27 and ends tomorrow.

The event is usually held on Branson’s Necker Island, but due to Hurricane Irma’s impact on the venue, it was moved to the location in the Bahamas.

According to organizers, Necker Cup has, in the past, raised over $3 million for different beneficiaries.
