Bullet found in student’s bag at ESHS

Not the exact round of ammunition mentioned in article.

Highly placed sources have informed the BVI News centre that a bullet was recently taken from a student at the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) and handed over to the police.

Our news centre understands that the incident happened earlier this month when a teacher was assisting the lower school student with a specific task. The student was allegedly removing items from his backpack when the bullet reportedly fell to the floor and caught the eye of the teacher.

Our news centre was told that the matter was reported to the heads of the institution and the police were also contacted. The cops confiscated the bullet but it is unclear whether the young man will face any disciplinary action for the illegal item.

In recent weeks the security of the ESHS has come under heavy scrutiny in light of a serious incident involving students who had a disagreement over a scooter. Unauthorized persons later entered the school compound to defend one of the students in the matter. This caused a frenzy in the school and wider community as some feared the illegal entrants were armed with guns.

ESHS has since implemented a ban on scooters and has warned that students will no longer be allowed to arrive on campus using that mode of transportation.

Residents and the community have also been warned not to spread misinformation, as this could cause unnecessary disruption both on and off campus.

In the meantime, it is unclear what extra security measures the school has implemented since the student was discovered with the bullet. It is also unclear whether the parents of the wider school community and the Education Ministry were told about the incident and apprised of the actions that were taken.

Just saying it could be an innocent find. Why he thought to put it in his Bag, idk. Good Adults do crazy things at times much less Children. Some of the School’s Authorities need to question him seriously, warn him of the consequences and am sure if he is innocent and means no harm He will admit how he came about it. Let us not be quick to judge. We were once all Children and can remember what we did and what we avoided. Parents, Children are not like long ago. This is a different era. monitor what your Children are into. Get to know are their Friends or Companions. Don’t be afraid to enter their Rooms. Sit with them at the Families Meal Table and discuss any and everything. I am not a perfect Parent But I am proud to know that some of the core Values that were instilled in my Children have made them who they are today. Lastly But most important: Education. Don’t settle for nothing less than a sound Education and Government needs to ensure Scholarships are available for our Students who show potential in willing to go the extra mile. With the Values from Home and outside experience is good. We might only lose a few because of bag company. Some Parents do take Student loans to help educate their Children which is a great investment and costly for the Parents But it pays off. Charity begins at home. Parents MUST find time to nurture and discipline their Children and not leave it up to Teachers or it wont happen. The Fear of God is the begining of knowledge. Education begins in the HOME..

Bible studies needs to be reimplemented in the public school system. Some parents do not take their child or children to Sabbath or Sunday school. In some cases they (the parents and children) do not know or acknowledge that God exists. In essence a generation is growing up without the knowledge and worship of God which is contributing to the lawlessness and violence in the public schools.

The word of God takes priority over Science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematic etc.

so he is incapable of some but not all crimes. Recommend the bullet carrier be charged with endangering others in Magistrate’s Court and sentenced to at least 100 hours of community service.

Once he’s completed his sentence his criminal record may be expunged on the condition of no more criminal offenses for the next 10 years.

Wasn’t it show and tell at the school? He made an honest mistake, but his parents or whoever owns the gun should be forced to secure their arsenal where their children cannot get it. That is gun safety 101.

  9. @SMH says:

Religion should stay out of the classroom. Children should be taught about all major religions / mythologies as part of their social studies but children should not be indoctrinated by schools to follow one religion or another. To suggest that learning about your “god” is more important than learning about science or maths demonstrates your own lack of education, critical thinking and your own indoctrination. Everyone thinks their “god” or version of morality is the right one!

  10. @Smh says:

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10).

The smartest child or adult is the one whose king is the Father in Heaven. Statistics after statistics will show that there was less violence and disruption in the public schools when bible studies were and are thought in the system. When God is ignored and absent there will be confusion and chaos as is the case in the current system.

As the for the faithless, the cowardly, the detestable….Revelation 21:8

The bible is the first book of knowledge, children and adults character and morals are enhanced by virtue of reading the bible and illustrating God’s covenants and commandments in every day life.

This is the problem with our society…majority of people find no problem with owning guns. People are always looking for excuses for criminals when they are caught, now some of you are saying he made an honest mistake…WTF??? Really(A BULLET)? The penalty for possession of guns & ammo are a complete joke and gun violence will continue to plague our ONCE PEACEFUL BVI.

I am happy they ban the scooters. Police need to confiscate the scooter as most of them are not insured and licensed and yet they were parked up in the school yard. Police check out these scooters that are parked up outside and if they are not licences take them up.

  19. AH GO SAY IT AGAIN says:

you parents needs to have your kids do a blood test to see whats in their system / if they are really serious about their children / that child should be accompanied by the parents to the police station and do a lie detector test to get the real truth of how he / she come to be in possession of a bullet . it’s a piece of cake yo say ( oh I found in in the street , ( and it can be true ) but you still have to do what is essential or necessary to find out the truth . so unless you are one of those
(WANNABE ) parents who don’t give a damn or always making EXCUSES for
them when you they get caught / you would do the RIGHT THING . before the worst happens ( God forbid ) and then you all start shedding crocodile tears , OH MY child was an ANGEL and didn’t deserve to die like that / BUT , the CHOICE is YOURS
