Bullet-riddled vehicle found near latest WE boat blaze
Police are reportedly investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a bullet-riddled vehicle found in close proximity to yet another early-morning boat fire that happened yesterday.
A bulletin issued by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) yesterday confirmed reports by residents of the fire.
Police said the fire reportedly started some time around 2 am yesterday with some reports indicating that it happened near the A&A laundromat located at West End.
The RVIPF did not disclose any additional details about the bullet-riddled vehicle, which it said was discovered near the burnt-out boat. However, there were no reports of any injured persons found near the scene of the fire.
The Force requested that persons with pertinent information regarding the latest boat burning incident contact the RVIPF’s Criminal Investigation Unit.
The boat fire is the latest in a series of such incidents to have occurred in the BVI in recent months and follows closely on the heels of an episode where a boat was set ablaze within the compound of the Road Town Police Station.
That arson — which police later blamed on criminal elements who they said acted in a calculated effort to destroy evidence — happened just after police seized the vessel suspected to be involved in the trafficking of narcotics.
Reportedly, another boat stolen from police custody around that time has since been recovered.
