BVI closing all airports
As part of preparation for the probable impact of Hurricane Irma, the BVI Airports Authority has announced a phased approach to the closure of airports across the territory.
The government, in a media release, said Terrance B Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island will close at mid-day tomorrow, September 5.
The Auguste George International Airport on Anegada will also close at noon tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Taddy Bay Airport on Virgin Gorda was closed at 6pm today, September 4.
The government, which has asked all stakeholders to secure their offices and other properties, said further assessments will be conducted.
“An assessment on the conditions of each airport will be made early Thursday morning following the passage of Hurricane Irma, and a further press release issued to announce their openings,” the government said.
Meanwhile, earlier today, banks across the BVI also announced that they will close at mid-day on Tuesday, September 5.
