Two BVI nationals appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in the neighbouring US Virgin Islands on Thursday (May 24) for allegedly trying to smuggle 11 kilograms of cocaine through the Cyril E King Airport on the island of St Thomas.

Thirty-six-year-old Jason Frett and 54-year-old Ashley Warner of Tortola are jointly charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

According to reports from USVI media, Frett and Warner allegedly tried to smuggle the drugs in coolers.

Further allegations are that the accused men were destined to travel to the United States mainland before they were caught.

It said the men have been placed on remand in the USVI pending further investigation from the US Customs and Border Protection and other US authorities.

Media reports indicate that the accused men face prison time of not less than 10 years or a fine of up to $10,000,000 million dollars.

Listen, I know life is getting harder by the minutes but we must not stoop to certain levels no matter how boxed in we may feel. I mean, is it worth risking your life, your freedom, your relationships? Just as there is lots to be gained if one were to succeed in their illegal venture there is also much to lose if caught so why risk it? The thing is we’ve all lost trust in God, the one who provides and/or we’re just too caught up with the glitz and glam of this life and so we fall for the enemy’s trap become vain and succumb to the certain social pressures which at some point, don’t care how long it takes will. E our demise. Please quit being your own enemy and trust God and look forward to the life he has awaiting us than this temporary place. My heart goes out to this family and all the other families that has or is going through this situation or one like it. I pray that the Lord God would minister unto you and have mercy on your souls. WOW, these are sad times
