BVI records fourth COVID-related death

The following is a media release from the Ministry of Health dated Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

The Ministry of Health & Social Development has confirmed another COVID-19 related death, which brings the death toll to three in a one-week period and four since the pandemic began.

The deceased is said to be a 45-year-old female with pre-existing medical conditions and who at the time of death was a patient at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone has expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased on behalf of the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Honourable Malone reminded residents to take personal responsibility for their lives and livelihoods and by extension their family as the Government has done all it can to prepare for this disease and the impact that it has now brought on the Territory.

Meanwhile, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ronald Georges stated that as the positive cases continue to increase, there is always a possibility of an increase in deaths. “Every death is difficult as we are a small close community, but we all must continue to play our part to stop transmission, increases in cases and deaths,” he stressed.

The Hospital Admissions Summary statistics as of July 13 are as follows:

– 10 persons admitted to ER with 2 deaths

– 13 persons admitted to the COVID-19 ward

– 1 person admitted to Behavioural Health Unit

– 5 persons admitted to ICU 1 death

– 29 hospital admitted patients (28 patients were unvaccinated, 1 patient vaccinated)

According to Dr. Georges, as of July 10, there were 1,286 active confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Territory. He reiterated previous calls for the limiting of person to person contact and explained that one of the main problems that the Public Health Unit is facing is that of persons not respecting the stay-at-home order and not curtailing activities to only essential activities.

The Acting Chief Medical Officer further stated that limiting person to person contact in the current situation of advanced community transmission is the only way to reduce worsening of the outbreak.

“All persons should be strictly adhering to public health and social distancing measures. Non-essential businesses should have already initiated their shut-down plans and have moved to remote working where possible and persons should also be strictly adhering to the curfew orders,” Dr. Georges cautioned.

from Public Health England – the largest ongoing study in the world:
With 2 of 2 doses of either vaccine (Pfizer or AZ) effectiveness against infection is estimated at around 65 to 90%.
The latest estimates indicate that the
vaccination programme has directly averted over 46,300 hospitalisations. Analysis on
the direct and indirect impact of the vaccination programme on infections and mortality,
suggests the vaccination programme has prevented between 7.5 and 8.9 million
infections and between 29,000 and 31,800 deaths.

Please thoroughly read the material that you share. Follow the link to the source of the data used. It takes you to this report:

          https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.05.22.21257658v1.full-text

“With ChAdOx1 2 dose effectiveness reduced from 66.1% (95% CI: 54.0 to 75.0) with B.1.1.7 to 59.8% (95%CI: 28.9 to 77.3) with B.1.617.2. Sequenced cases detected after 1 or 2 doses of vaccination had a higher odds of infection with B.1.617.2 compared to unvaccinated cases.”

The above is telling you that the AstraZeneca product gives you even less protection against the Delta variant than it did the Alpha variant; 66% effectiveness really isn’t that good, never mind 59%!

The above also tells you that vaccinated individuals are more likely to be infected with the Delta variant than non-vaccinated individuals.

Lets see if this comment makes it passed the inspectors.

At this point in time, unfortunately we have to leave the conspiracy theorist to their own demise. What a sad situation, until it hits close to home, you have no idea what you are dealing with and exactly how much of a fighting chance this vaccination affords you. God bless and stay safe all.

  4. Jesus is the answer says:

He washed away our sins, with His own blood, He has gone to prepare a place for us. What do you know about the New Jerusalem? When are you going to understand if you indeed have ears to hear?

This world is not our home, we are just passing through. This is the time, to read and listen to The Word of God, Almighty God’s Love Letter to you.

When last did you listen or read the Scriptures? Jesus said, I stand at the door and knock. . .

Your prayers were answered. Some did not listen. God gave you people smart enough to create the vaccine. If you chose not to head his help that is on you.
