A Virgin Gorda based-company intends to donate a percentage of its profits towards replanting the sister island.

Elaine Couper of BVI Snuba told BVI News yesterday that for every booking the organisation receives from April 20 to 22, twelve percent will go towards the BVI Tourist Board’s ‘Seeds of Love’ initiative.

The Seeds of Love initiative is a programme to replant the territory’s indigenous trees and vegetation destroyed during the September 2017 hurricanes.

“Bringing back the beauty of our island chain is at the forefront of everybody’s mind because we lost a lot of vegetation especially palm trees during the hurricanes,” Couper said.

Important to give back

She said the newly-opened snuba diving company is happy to contribute to the cause.

“It is important for the company to give back to the community and not only take, take, take … We don’t want to be just taking money and not putting it back at some point,” she emphasized.

Couper said her company will also be assisting with the actual replanting of Virgin Gorda.

April 22 is recognised worldwide as of Earth Day.
