Representatives from the BVI tourism sector recently attended the 42nd Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Marketplace in Jamaica, where they promoted the territory’s tourism product to over 100 delegates and media personnel.

The CHTA Marketplace is widely known as the Caribbean’s premier tourism marketing event. This year’s event attracted over 1,200 delegates from 50 countries, and facilitated 1,274 appointments between buyers and suppliers.

The director of Tourism, Clive McCoy, also said the CHTA is a crucial event for connecting with new buyers, updating established partners on BVI Tourism and collaborating with Caribbean tourism colleagues to tackle common regional challenges.

In a press release dated June 3, the Tourist Board’s Public Media Manager, Keith Dawson highlighted details of the event, commending the BVI team’s successful presentations in enhancing the territory’s tourism offering and creating partnerships across diverse markets.

Participants of this year’s CHTA event included tourist boards, hotels, airlines, tour operators, travel wholesalers, travel consortia, hotel and tourism associations, property management companies, and media.
This year saw notable participation from non-traditional markets such as Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia, alongside the traditional Asia markets.
