BVI votes! Steady climb in ballots cast

Hundreds of persons have flocked to polling stations across the British Virgin Islands to exercise their right to vote in the ongoing general elections happening today, Monday, April 24.

Well before midday, thousands of persons were recorded to have cast their ballot and that number is consistently increasing.

A look at regular updates being provided by the Government Information Service shows that the number of votes cast grows by the hundreds with each alert at the respective polling station.

Notwithstanding the steady climb in votes cast, election authorities have also been seeing a few instances of spoiled ballots.

In the meantime, things have remained virtually incident-free at the pooling stations. The police have maintained a high police presence at those locations.

  1. My one Wish.. says:

My Prayer that we get a woman minister of health..May it be Lorna, Shareen, Ingrid, Pearlene. We need one of these women to be the next minister of health, bring that motherly care, compassion and the serious attention our health services need. Men have failed us. Time for a woman..

  4. Women have rights says:

Yes, I agree that we need women in power and I hope one of these women will fight for women rights cause trust me there’s a lot of women who are sexually harassed ON THE JOB, and they are victimized when they speak out about their experience. Too much cover-up and hush hush going on in this small place. But God sees all!!!

  9. Why says:

Are there only 16K registered voters when there are allegedly 30K adult persons living in the BVI? Seems undemocratic for a small country to have half the citizens make the rules for the other half of the population. The BVI seems less like a democracy and more like an hypocrisy.

Hope the election observers report this odd situation to their UK and UN superiors.

The overhead and sacrifice ayo does be here spitting on taking in about is your on mind and heart because ayo too wicked!!!! The man just passed he has family and friends just say condolences and stfu

  11. Disingenuous says:

Half the population is under the age of 18, and does not get a vote.
There are a huge number of adult non-voters but the percentages are not accurate because the Govt no longer publishes surveys, and there are lots of dead people on the voters lists.

  12. Tiny Ovals to SHADE says:

Those tiny ovals are TWO STEPS BACKWARDS.

How many elderly, disabled people could even see we’ll must less try to circle those tiny ovals.

Not a thing was wrong with the “X”.

If you don’t shade properly or it goes outside the oval it’s invalid so CHANGE this for future elections.

  13. @ Why says:

    Your comment makes no sense.

First, there are approximately 30,000 persons NOT all adults living in the BVI.

Second, of those 30,000 NOT ALL are eligible to vote including children, unregistered voters, expats.

Third, those who are eligible have every right to decide what they want for their country.

  14. Defe says:

Won’t make a difference. Many of the decision makers T the health services are women and they can be very petty all the time. Some so vindictive it ain’t funny. They rather see an idea fail that to support it just because they didn’t think of it.

A female minister of health may be good but the list of women you just mention ain’t no better. From what’s being said about them it sound like they would help sink the place than build it up.

We need someone who had experience in both medical and business fields. This person must be willing to take some risk, they may not be liked by all but still stand on their principals. They need to let a couple of them know who is boss and if not willing to cooperate them hit the door. I hope such person exist and I wish them best of luck.

  15. Concerned says:

I totally agree. The ovals are extremely small. Who reviews forms for feasibility prior to use? This was a big discussion today.

  16. True says:

Yes I was thinking the same thing

  17. @what!! says:

That statement has many meanings. The folly is in the mind of the interpreter. Interpret that however you may like.

  18. Forget election says:
