Two parents received what could be described as the perfect New’s Day gift on Saturday, January 1 as they welcomed their son as the territory’s first baby for 2022.

Baby James Zolfi was born at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital at 10:42 am to parents Maria Sirozhenko and Ahmad Zolfi.

He made his debut into the world weighing in at eight pounds six ounces.

“As part of the BVI Health Services Authority’s (BVIHSA) longstanding tradition, James’ mother was presented with a welcome/birthday gift for the special New Year’s baby,” the BVIHSA said in announcing the successful delivery of the infant.

Dr. D. Orlando hospital is good for all and sundry to be born here, but we are busy giving birth to our children in America, building up America that doesn’t want us there. Stop sleeping, Virgin Islanders.
