BVIEC to probe weekend shutdown
The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has promised to investigate the circumstances surrounding an island-wide outage that was experienced by residents this past Saturday, May 6.
The outage saw consumers experiencing multiple periods during the mid-morning and early afternoon where they were without access to any electricity from the main grid.
According to a statement released by the agency yesterday, there was a fault which occurred at approximately 10:17 am at its Pockwood Pond-based Henry Wilfred Smith Power Station, which resulted in a total system shutdown.
The entire grid, the BVIEC said, was restored later in the afternoon by 2:55 pm.
The corporation thanked residents for their patience and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused during the outage.

Probe what! the generators are poorly maintained and are not working properly. The BVI is a small place and we already heard the news. So what is there to probe? Just get good maintenance engineers who is willing to put pride in their work. Not some MBS, PHD, BSC who is there for the money and cannot perform practical hands-on work. We know the problem so fix it please.
