The number of active positive COVID-19 cases in the British Virgin Islands is now nearing 700 persons.

The territory’s latest epidemiological summary dated July 7 shows that 659 persons in the BVI have the virus.

The summary says 622 are located on the main island of Tortola, 15 are on vessels in BVI waters, 13 are located on Virgin Gorda while seven and two are located on Jost Van Dyke and Anegada, respectively.

The overall number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the BVI now stands at 976.

In the meantime, 23,473 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the territory to date. A breakdown of this shows that 13,803 persons have received their first dose of the vaccine while 9,670 have gotten both doses.

In light of the growing number of cases, the government has reimplemented a night-time curfew that will run from 11 pm to 5 am daily. A number of businesses have also been ordered closed while others have been placed on under specific restrictions.

    • You are confused says:

You are confused, since you are overtaxing the one brain cell you appear to be operating with.

This my dimwitted friend is call the Delta Variant. We don’t want to say the delta variant is here, but we know it is. We know it is a much faster and more aggressive version of the virus than the one we were previously dealing with that we had under such tight control.

For research and reference purposes, please see India and all things variant covid.

you really should have done the research before coming here to spread your fake concern based on nothing.

oh and yeah when people are ignorant and wouldn’t following the rules, sh!t happens.

As of the last ease of restrictions local white people of the usvi been coming to bvi with fake immunization cards and bouncing around island to island in the bvi with a negative agenda of spreading covid. Also in sopers west end yachts been seen coming over from stjohn illegally .they anchor at the closest point during the day and sneak over at nights to escape all the fees rules and regulations this been circulating 3 weeks now.”

    • Vaca in GV? says:

We are scheduled to vacation in Virgin Gorda beginning on July 17. We are coming from the US and are fully vaccinated. I am not so concerned about being in Virgin Gorda since the Covid numbers are low. I am worried about going through customs and Tortola and using the ferry . Any insight?
