BVI’s COVID-19 death toll surpasses 50 with two more fatalities

Another two casualties have been added to the BV’s COVID-19 death toll, taking the total number of deaths to 51.

This is according to the territory’s latest epidemiological summary, released yesterday, January 31.

Active positive cases of the virus in the territory have continued to decline at a rapid rate after rising to more than 1,300 several weeks ago and now stand at 181 cases.

However, the level of hospitalisations continues to remain steady and may be cause for concern.

According to the latest summary, 12 persons are recorded as hospitalised, which is just one person less than the number recorded in the previous summary issued a week ago on January 25.

It was previously disclosed that the majority of COVID-19 related deaths recorded since the start of the year were seniors, but it is unclear if the two most recent deaths were also seniors.

With the latest reductions, Tortola continues to make up the bulk of COVID-19 cases with 148 persons.

There are no cases listed on Anegada or on any on the vessels in the territory, and cases on Virgin Gorda (24) and Jost Van Dyke (nine) have also reduced substantially.

The government continues to encourage persons to follow existing COVID-19 protocols in place and encourages persons who have not been vaccinated to do so if they can.

Majority of countries in Europe stop the tests at border entry because Omicron variant is not dangerous! You need just to be vaccinated with booster! A majority of people become immune to the new variant! This is the best solution to fight against this disease and stop the pandemic!
    it’s time to move on!!
