BVITB’s RT office still closed after 3 months

There’s still no word on when the BVI Tourist Board’s (BVITB) Road Town office will reopen, three months after the doors were closed due to mould infestation.

About 20 staff members were officially ushered out of the office on January 24 after the mould reportedly made some people sick. The staff have been working remotely since then.

At that time, members of the public were told to collect cheques, certificates, and other documents at the Tourist Board’s Waterfront location at the Road Town Ferry Terminal.

During a press conference last week, a member of the press asked Premier Natalio Wheatley for an update on the office. However, the Premier said he would have to get back to them with the details as he did not have that information on hand.

There’s also no word on whether the mould is being dealt with and whether the government will pay the bill. However, when the news was first reported, members of the public used social media platforms to share their view that the cost to rid the office of mould should be covered by the owners of the building.

The BVITB is responsible for marketing the BVI’s tourism product and finding new ways to ensure the industry remains relevant. But some members of the public have expressed the view that they don’t see the need for 20 staff at the location.

To pick up a pay check then act like they saved the territory single handed from going bankrupt and how amazing they are and they should all be patted on the back for doing the bare minimum

Change is needed and change is coming.

It is not only the BVI office but the whole organization needs revamping.

We want the audit reports so we can see what those wanna be guru sisters did with the public purse while in office and Mr. Russell we have not forgotten you.

Royal Virgin Island Police still have more arrest coming.

Don’t forget the stimulus money report. We want to see what all the funds for each individual district was used to do. Public money hence public information. It is all our tax and social security money. If the director for social security board cannot fend off the politicians then put another director and board who have backbone.

The time you take to ask asinine questions, you could have stopped to use what if any little bit of sense you have to realize staff may comprise of the following and this does not even include support staff under the various departments so add a minimum of 2 to the below to get your approximate 20z

I may not work there but from the various TB posts, it is obvious there are various departments like any other Government, Statutory, or private entity.

    2. Messenger

Pot calling kettle black when majority of offices do the bare minimum while on social media all day.

There has been elected Reps in past HOA posting on social media posting about things not associated with their job while HOA was in session and that was a norm.

I bet rent is still being paid to the property owner, though.

Seems like the audit report touched your nerves jumping from tourist board matters to stimulus matters.

Let’s stick to the matter at hand all entities have their matters to be investigated. The wanna be guru tourism sisters believed it can’t happen unless they have something to do with it. Well my point is to bring out the AUDIT for the tourist board now so the people can see what these senior officials do with tax payers money for their benefit.

Happy both Sister no longer have access to the government purse but there are still a few old Tourist Board head officials both locally and abroad that needs going home.

    RETIREMENT!

    TOURIST BOARD NEEDS A CHANGE!

For the life of me I just can’t understand why these landlords don’t maintain their building. Some of these landlords paint over the mould and don’t treat it. A lot of apartments are contaminated with mould, all these landlords care about is money .

  13. Redundant says:

All the BVI resorts, villas, charter yachts, bareboats, etc. do their promotional advertising 24/7 through various platforms/websites on the internet in 2023 and the future.

BVITB is a dinosaur from the past and needs to become extinct.
