Cabinet to host meeting on another sister island
Premier Andrew Fahie has announced that the Cabinet session scheduled for Wednesday, January 15 will be hosted on the sister island of Anegada.
The decision was made following consultations with Cabinet’s Chairman, Governor Augustus Jaspert.
“We are on track now with two meetings. Last week we held Cabinet on Jost Van Dyke, and now we will convene a meeting on Anegada. Once again, we have a promise made, a promise kept, and a promise delivered to the people of the Virgin Islands,” Premier Fahie stated.
The promise from government to host at least one Cabinet meeting on the sister islands each year was made during the governor’s Speech from the Throne address in the House of Assembly last year.
Premier Fahie said it is essential for government to make such strides, as the decisions made in each meeting by Cabinet affects the entire British Virgin Islands.
“Historically, Cabinet meetings have only been held on Tortola. As a Government, we are unconventional. We understand that as a Cabinet, we make decisions that also affect residents on the sister islands,” the Premier stated.
Governor Jaspert said he supports the move by government to conduct Cabinet on the sister islands.
“I once again commend efforts to include our sister islands in various aspects of our government and democracy. With Cabinet being held on Anegada, we have now had Cabinet on each of our main sister islands, which has allowed for our citizens and residents to have the top executive decision-making body sitting in their community,” Governor Jaspert stated.

This is why Premier Fahie, to have censured and removed, a representative from the Sister island of Virgin Gorda, while now claiming to wanting to hear of the cries of the people, is hypocritical!
Honourable Flax-Charles was elected by the people to echo the sentiments of the people of Virgin Gorda, and it continually saddens me,that she was removed from the Ministry of Tourism for echoing those cries!
What you did was wrong, and will continually be looked upon, by Ausar, as hypocritical, and not keeping in the true spirit of the people of Virgin Gorda!!
You sound so foolish. Fahie you and your team are doing well.
Elaborate on what “well” means for the rest of us please.
The time for playing around is over and all these photo ops. We are in serious times and I see no dynamic leadership here nor a good strategy for the country’s forward movement.
“To Ausar”, My thoughts are centered totally around the censuring of, and total removal of a Ministry from an elected Minister, that I’m talking about!
It’s not about whether the Premier is doing well at his official duties!
You’re mixing apples and oranges!
But then again, this is after all, the BVI, where online bloggers, are quite often unable to pen their thoughts and analyze the thoughts of others accurately, without using common-day, churlish vernacular, usually reserved for the street sweepers!!!
