Caribbean Airlines has announced the launch of new routes to Tortola, effective October 14 this year.

In a press release dated August 12, the airline said its decision to begin flights to the BVI is part of its plan to better connect the Caribbean region and expand its network.

Caribbean Airlines will operate out of its base in Trinidad and Tobago, connecting Tortola with destinations including Antigua, Barbados, and Puerto Rico, among others.

Tickets for flights from the effective date are available starting August 12. The airline plans to operate four flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, stated regional connectivity is at the heart of Caribbean Airlines’ mission.

“Our new service to Tortola is a significant step in our growth strategy, and we are committed to providing seamless travel experiences for our passengers. By the end of this year, Caribbean Airlines will link the Spanish, French, Dutch, and English-speaking Caribbean with each other, as well as the North American Diaspora and business and leisure travelers who wish to explore our vibrant region,” he said.

Meanwhile, BVI’s Director of Tourism, Clive McCoy, expressed enthusiasm for the new route, saying, “We are thrilled with Caribbean Airlines’ decision to service our islands. Granting more people the opportunity to visit the BVI is a win for tourism. We look forward to welcoming guests with BVI Love.”

The introduction of these new routes follows concerns raised in 2020 under the Fahie administration about the possible foreclosure of LIAT, another regional airline. LIAT’s potential closure prompted discussions on route expansions by InterCaribbean Airlines and Caribbean Airlines.

Since 2020, representatives from Caribbean Airlines have visited the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport with the aim of adding the BVI to their route network.

Good news! What type pf plane?

  2. Reality says:

The schedule suggests that CA wants to move passengers from/to busy jet airports on larger islands. Tortola seems to be a convenient stop instead of St. Martin.

Hopefully Tortola will cease the random airport closures to keep this airline from leaving!

Good news, if our our totally dysfunctional airport authority can change its stripes. Appalling queues for security, non-operational parking machines, bureaucracy ruling over practicality. Not holding my breath.

Thank goodness. Intercaribbean are not reliable and need investigating – I was booked on a flight to San Juan at about 8.50am and we were told it was going to be late due to the incoming flight so I asked whether the incoming plane was the one that had just taken off for Antigua and she said yes- so they knew they did have not a plane to go San Juan. So went back out as I had a Silver Airways flight because I knew that the flight would be cancelled – which it was at 4pm that day. Intercaribbean cannot be relied upon.

Mr. CEO understands that we In Tortola will not put up with no crappy service, for my Caribbean people if you lost me bag , or delay my flight you will pay, ensure I get put in hotel, food provide and the full service until I reach destination. Don’t start to think the Ministers here are a push over, the people will get aggressive with some powerful vocabulary, you will not like it.I am not speak about bad words.

I am searching the laws to find all that you are not upholding on your end of the bargain and each time you messed up you will get an email. The Caribbean people bring much hope to these islands,so don’t start thinking you could pull a fast one on them anymore. I have a group that is watching you.
