Residents of Cane Garden Bay will have to wait a bit longer to see the much-talked-about sewerage project in their community become a reality.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works Jeremy Hodge told BVI News the initial $1.6 million sewerage project has been put back on the proverbial drawing board.

According to Hodge, there were a number of changes made to their existing plan after government hired FDL Consultants to manage the project last year.

“Instead of looking at a 10 to a 20-year solution, we are looking more futuristically in terms of a 30-year sustainable design for the area; taking all the different sectors into consideration,” Hodge explained.

The permanent secretary, however, said plans are now back in its final stages to get off the ground.

“We have now received the final documentation in terms of designs and tender documents for that project, and that information is now with the Ministry of Finance,” Hodge said.

Intelligent sewerage pumps

The new sewerage plan will see larger pumps that could be controlled electronically and be managed using smart devices.

“Let’s say if we have to get two more Quito’s [business establishments], for example, we need to have a plan that would be easily retrofitted to take the capacity,” Hodge explained.

The Permanent Secretary said the project will go through the tender process after the Works Ministry and the Finance Ministry conduct a review.

Hodge said the cost of the project has increased. However, he did not know the new figure. He was also unable to give a timeframe when work is scheduled to kick off.

However, Hodge said the new sewerage plant to be constructed in the community is designed for the same location as the current plant.

History of the project

Work on the initial works to the new sewerage facility was expected to begin by the third quarter of 2018.

The long-standing issue is mainly due to the outdated, 20-year-old plant being used to treat 35 lifts stations (also called pump stations) and a large number of growing households and businesses.

Felt the need to post this. Hope BVI news will let it through for individual discussion purposes. Because seldom does such an idea gets a chance to surface, especially in a dominant christian society.

So please, let this differing view through, though it has nothing to do with the actual article at hand. Thanks if you do:

No man or woman born to a woman can be or is usually satisfied with one wife or one husband.

Such goes against natural sexual existence. Reasons why those houses exist and the word “cheating” will never exit our relational vocabulary.

Where it is found that he or she become so, it is because that he or she has become conditioned, through religious foreign Western European cultural indoctrination, to believe that he or she should, contrary to man’s natural human sexual instincts.

A thought for thought, not for agreement thereon of your view and murder of this one. No thumbs up or down are required or necessary, but please your self-if need be.

I only hope the delay isn’t to involve a certain company owned by a certain minister?

I think CSK needs to be appointed because he is very experienced in making sewage go away without too much of a smell but he can still carry on regardless when everybody else can smell the sewage. A total sewage professional and full of sewage ideas.

You see, now this is where the “noisemaker” from the second district, should have their energies placed; removing the continued stench and the rotten aesthetics that permeate Cane Garden Bay!

Instead, that “noisemaker” blabbers against the regularisation of longer dwelling immigrants in this territory.

Clean up the “filth” in your own backyard, “noisemaker”, before blabbering on about regularisation, that has very little meaning in it’s fullest sense to your living conditions, since you control extremely large land holdings in Cane Garden Bay,thereby ensuring that your progeny and their childern’s children, have continual wealth for perpetuity!!!

Is there now not a conflict of interest with the minister of health. Wasn’t it his company doing this.
