COMMENTARY: We must not help COVID-19 kill us

Many are quick to take credit for good but no one takes accountability for bad. A week ago, all wanted to be praised as gods for ‘protecting us from COVID-19’. Today, it’s everyone else’s fault that persons die.
Like all oppressed people from the ages of slavery to the pages of now, we have been forced to be religious since, whenever there is no real help, the people are obliged to turn to imaginary friends.
We did not get here by accident, and while their best response is, ‘this is the time to find solutions and not point fingers’, the fact is, no solution can ever be found unless the problems are first pointed out.
Unfortunately, most were too busy currying favour with the leaders, which left me alone in speaking ‘truth to power’. The Leaders refused to heed, COVID-19 mushroomed and our people are now dying.
Furthermore, failure to recognize mistakes is a pledge to repeat them and my actions were not designed to make me popular but to prevent the present crisis from happening.
Unfortunately, those with the power to act seemed to be profiting and never felt the pain of the people. So, rather than getting the private sector involved in the solution, they treated non-government workers like common criminals.
Starve a cold, feed a fever
They were quick to lock us up for showing human kindness and, as private healthcare providers whom they owed for six months, they still blocked us from getting food, and connived with Labour & Immigration to block or take away our medical staff for themselves.
Again, they now call on us to sacrifice even more because their cherished public servants refuse to function or have gone into hiding. Investigations after the fact may be nice but will not bring back lives.
We may sympathise with persons believing that praying and fasting rather than plans and works will be the solution but, it is inexcusable that our medical professionals would condone such instructions when they know persons threatened by a virus should never be instructed to fast since this will further weaken their immunity and lead to death.
Having to fight this battle reminds me of having to fight against our own government and the UK to get a new hospital and Beef Island bridge. But this is far more serious — this is your life and unless we wish to die, we cannot condone or continue willful ignorance.
We need help badly and it must begin with ourselves. Please check the things I said from day one and apply as required before time is expired.

Lord Frett, I see you have come a long way. Your writing style has matured. It’s more concise and easier to follow. No long twists or turns of the past. You made your point and dropped the mike. Who the cap fit, let them wear it.
I have one important criticism however:
When you wrote “We need help badly and it must begin with ourselves.”, I was hoping the very next sentence would have been to encourage hold outs of vaccination to hold out no more and get vaccinated.
Such a summary statement in my view would have said to all that despite your negative experiences with the system, as a health provider, I believe it’s in your best long term interest to protect yourselves against covid, and that begins with vaccination.
In my view in this health crisis, help beginning with ones self should start with protecting ones health with vaccination against this deadly virus.
At any rate, nice to see you back despite the naysayers. I like your new style. Keep it going.

All the Governments around the Caribbean doing is forcing this vaccine on the masses just to get money and the money going into their personal pockets, so then pay me well to take it and I will, but for now I will stick to my bush tea and even try obeah if needs ve, but no vaccine for this sinner here.

They stay at home and get pay..While majority suffer with no work. No Pay….They dont care, they just bla bla, their focus is to check their bank every 15 and 30th….How no One talking about the Funeral spread. I want to believe this crisis is a spin off from the failure of the government to take it serious..This aggressive testing showing the results..
Understand this. If you get Covid there is no real treatment for it. Lots of things have been tried but getting on for 5 million have died of it in a little over a year. ( for comparison 600,000 die in a bad flu year )
It’s random. Some times it does nothing to, some feel ill and some die.
Only one thing improves your chances , vaccination.
Locking down just delays things.

Yes you are right NO REAL TREATMENTS for this virus. So why are you people who are vaccinated recommending that those who are not should “Take the Jab”. You are a bunch of faithless, selfish people who had the right to chose to allow an EMERGENCY EXPERIMENTAL DRUG to be injected into your body although you know that it will not treat the virus and you did that. So please allow the people who are not as faithless or selfish as you vaccinated people are to choose not to take this EMERGENCY EXPERIMENTAL DRUG. Especially the businesses who are trying to FORCE there employees to take this Vaccine.
Please please people save yourselves. Without the vaccine there is a sure path to death – death. Is your pride for not taking the vaccine worth dying for? If you don’t want to help yourself please help others like those who for medical reasons cannot take the vaccine – like my son. Its absolutely crazy that you have been given the path to life and yet choose not to take it. A great deal of belongers are overweight or obese and probably have diabetes or pre-diabetes. Statistics show that 30% of the Covid 19 deaths in the world are people with diabetes. So a lot of people here at extreme risk of dying. – why can’t you see that? How many people have to die of Covid 19 before you get your shot?
Why should I be a Guinea pig for your son or whomever? This is 2021, thy man for thy man self, get with the times,some people don’t want an experimental drug in their body that cannot stop nor cure, so why take it? Tired of these people that argue every solution to fight the virus beyond them drinking bush tea and carrying on like normal…BUSH CAN NOT CURE EVERYTHING! It couldn’t cure Polio, Tetanus, Hep B, Rubella etc. and it sure won’t cure COVID, period. Forget talking about the vaccine; even wearing a mask and WASHING YOUR HANDS is a big argument for some GROWN people in the BVI…tired seeing people cursing employees/security at businesses for asking them to put on their mask and sanitize…seriously? Pure nastiness.
Here’s the hard unpleasant truth: Masks were a blessing for many because NOBODY wants to smell some of y’all bad breath or get spit on by you when you talk, so pop a mint, put on your mask, wash your dirty hands and keep it moving! People already stressed enough losing family members to have y’all whining over nonsense. Doesn’t matter if it’s 1921 or 2021…or if it’s just “a flu” (it’s not), it’s a virus we all don’t want!
