C&W business shares ways to safeguard BVI businesses

PRESS RELEASE: Cable & Wireless Business (C&W Business) is leading the charge to safeguard business networks in the British Virgin Islands from natural disasters.

Business continuity was the focus of their presentation to members of the legal fraternity and finance industry at BVI Finance’s monthly breakfast forum held on October 10.

During the forum, which featured the territory’s three telecommunications providers, Flow BVI Country Manager, Colin MacDonald shared business solutions currently offered through the C&W Business portfolio of services and how they can vitally assist businesses to recover quickly after a natural disaster.

He said that the company’s ‘Disaster Recovery as a Service’ (DRaaS), enables local BVI business owners to immediately securely access their critical data and replicate their IT platforms in order to resume operations and provide business services to their clients after a major disaster.

MacDonald noted, “We have made significant investments in the restoration of services and network rebuild across the territory and, as a result, I am proud to say that C&W Business is fully operational and here for the business community with a range of products designed to suit every type of enterprise with managed services.

These include DSL broadband services, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) services and Private Circuits such as International Private Leased Circuits (IPLC) and Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS).

Furthermore, we have an extensive regional and global reach which provides an exclusive advantage to the financial sector in managing and securing data, while meeting the highest compliance standards.”

He also acknowledged recent challenges saying, “Though we have recently had some technical difficulties with our landline service for business customers, I am pleased to report that our local and regional teams have worked tirelessly to fully restore these services, and have migrated customers to a new platform to mitigate any future loss of services.”

C&W Business has developed a series of integrated solutions that will work in tandem with DRaaS that offer more comprehensive monitoring, alarms and notifications and disaster recovery testing over a number of common platforms including Windows, Linux, AIX, IBM i (formerly AS400), or Solaris.
