Don’t rush it – Mitch wants careful return to normalcy
Representative of the Second Electoral District Melvin ‘Mitch’ Turnbull has urged the authorities not to rush back to ‘normalcy’ and miss an opportunity to correct a number of deficiencies that existed in school infrastructure and other areas before Hurricane Irma on September 6.
According to him, tough decisions may be necessary in order to ensure enough time and resources are used to make life better.
Turnbull this morning made the comment on his Facebook page, and posted accompanying photos of a flooded Ivan Dawson Primary School, which is located in the Cane Garden Bay area of his constituency.
“We must not rush to try or say we are getting back to ‘normalcy’ without first addressing issues that have been around for years before the storms. If we do, we would have learned nothing!” he said.
“We must take the time necessary – the resources and the fortitude to make the tough but right decisions. Our children are our Now Generation, and they must be placed in environments that are suitable for this time.”
