EE police station closed temporarily

The East End Police Station on Tortola.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force announced that the East End Police Station will be closed today, Friday, April 19, until further notice.

The RVIPF did not give any reasons for the sudden closure but said officers will continue to patrol the district daily and can be contacted on mobile number 368-9704 for immediate response.

Residents raised concerns in the past about an insufficient number of officers at the East End Police Station.

But Police Commissioner Mark Collins dismissed those claims, insisting that his officers are visible within the community. Collins suggested that more community engagements were made now than had been done previously.

“Well certainly one of the things that I’ve made sure of is that the community policing teams are out there walking and talking and actually I do get quite a lot of feedback about the community officers engaging with business people out and about being visible on a daily basis,” Collins said last year.

He added: “We put the resources where they’re needed, but the community officers are out there visible and they are walking the streets.”
After similar reports emerged that the Cane Garden Bay Police Station had been closed, Collins denied this was true.

“Now, on occasions, the door is closed and the reason the door is closed is because the officers are out walking in the community and talking to people and engaging,” Collins stated.

And it is always the FAT, SLOPPY LOOKING ONES WHO’s STOMACHS IS TOUCHING THE TOP OF THEIR THIGHS WHEN THEY SIT DOWN. AFTER THEY LEAVE THE HAIR SALON, THEY MOVE ON TO THE NEAREST PLACE THAT SELLS FOOD TO GET THEIR FILL UP ON COMPANY TIME. I AGREE, TERMINATE THEIR EMPLOYMENT ON THE SPOT.

Police stations should be opened 24/7 365. I will say this much, if I am in danger and have to run to any police station and they are closed for what ever reason and cannot gain entry to protect my life, I WILL DROP THE BIGGEST LAWSUIT ON THE BVI. As far as the police women that is suppose to be on duty and is sitting in the hair salons getting their hair done on companies time should be TERMINATED ON THE SPOT!!!!! They don’t deserve a paycheck.

it is always a shame when people jump to conclusion without facts, how can you be sure that the lady is not off duty and on her way home stop to get her hair done. How any of us on our way home from work, or during a break stop at the barber but no mention is made of it; do not be sexy and jump all over the lady

  10. What a Shame says:

BVI News and their propaganda news. The RVIPF sent out a Press Release along with the Bulletin outlining why the Station was on a temporary close.

  11. Anonymous says:

Cops were only around during the morning anyways so this isn’t much of a change.

  12. Poor Planning says:

Why would you put that on the side by the police station??

  13. Well sah says:

    Another tragedy
Rebuild the Police Station and make it bigger with proper sleeping facilities for staff to serve the public
    24 hours service
    A proper kitchen with facilities
    A waiting room
Secure reception area not a barracks
    Fire escape
Three holding cells for overnight offenders
    Two patrol cars
    One emergency car
Two regular cars in the yard at all times
Small place for overnight domestic or otherwise abuse victims
    Train counselors
Instead money going into wuck up and destroying the youths : alcohol, more illicit flow od drug use

    Wuck up is secondary
    Social issues are escalating.
East End is the hugest district what is our Priemier doing ?

Mark Collins is ensuring what he needs to do . No police patrolling
Where are they ? In his back yard
