Eight tenders in for Trellis Bay Centre
The Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) announced that eight tenders were received for constructing the Trellis Bay Welcome Center.
The agency said the tenders will now undergo a thorough evaluation process to select the most suitable construction firm.
The Trellis Bay Welcome Center has been a long-requested facility at the location, with several lawmakers urging that a facility be erected to accommodate travellers.
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley noted that the project should be completed by the end of June after a three-month construction phase.
Eighth District Representative Marlon Penn was one of the lawmakers advocating for urgent attention to the Trellis Bay area, pointing out that it was the primary entry point for numerous tourists annually.
Penn argued that Trellis Bay has been a hub for tourism in the territory and for the many people from the sister Islands who commute there daily.
“I see them (commuters) when they come down on the port, I feel so ashamed sometimes, most times when [it] is raining and they have to battle [and] navigate in the rain and get into the car or get into a taxi,” Penn said.

Better lste than never. I hope it is a state of the art building and not some rushed jiffy jaffy structure . Build something that represents class
Beautiful seating / waiting area , decent four or five bathrooms, marble counter tops in the face basin , glass doors facing the sea , storage area for bags , attractive welcome area , great air condition building . Solid roof with sealing fans as well , nicely tiled floor .. not like the hurriedly built cattle ranch Kiosk for farmers at the round about, built without future vision for storage and shelter when it rains etc
Think on the future when you build these government buildings in terms of growing business and population
Building built in 3 months… lol…
