Enis Adams Primary’s reconstruction nearing completion
Works to the Enis Adams Primary School is said to be progressing well and now “nears completion”.
“The school is taking shape with every passing day and will be superb once finished,” said project contractor and Managing Director of Newton Construction, Hesketh Newton.
The reconstructed building, which was designed by UK-based company John Reid & Sons Ltd (REIDsteel), will be able to withstand 185 miles per hour winds and earthquakes.
Commercial Director of REIDsteel Tim Cook said the school will be much improved from its former building which was destroyed during the 2017 hurricanes.
“All of the steelwork has gone up and work is going well as it nears completion. The school is being rebuilt to modern standards and requirements with disabled facilities, and an additional second floor,” Cook said.
He further said: “As well as seven classrooms on the ground floor, it will have a science lab, IT Suite, library, large seminar room on the second floor plus a medical room.”
Meanwhile, local businessman and the school’s benefactor Peter Haycraft said it has been rewarding to witness the rebuilding of the school.
“It is gratifying to see the Enis Adams school rise from the rubble as our community works to put the devastation of the hurricanes behind us.”

Look VIp ready to take credit again. Watch them you see.
Nope Credit to Peter Haycraft. It was his money that built it.
Negotiated, design details etc coming from the former government and then ministry officials.
This is an old picture the new building is 98% complete and it look sweet inside and outside. I love the paint colours. Thanks Mr Haycraft.
Thumbs down by accident sorry
It is so strange how this complete building cost only a million dollars and just to plaster, paint, tile and put windows in the Elmore Stoutt High School costing us almost 5 million dollars…..Mr Haycraft and Newton Construction should’ve took over the high school instead of Andrew and his goons
Haycraft and the contractor have never announced the cost of the new school. He initially said that he is PLEDGING $1 million not that the cost is $1 million dollars. He then added an extra $200,000. The cost is at least $1.2 based on that. The cost of the high school is $3.7 million and is way bigger than the primary school. If the High School wall cost over $1 million then $3.7 is a good deal to fix the school.
You are ungrateful human being. Be thankful that the kids are getting to go back to school full time.
This is a eye opener in cost compare to projects government is doing.the bvi should have look like goal but when you put the same set of rats to guard the cheese you get the same results.
You should not be putting rats to mind cheese at all.
Is the high school ready? Asking for a friend..
You and your friend should go take a look if you really want to know for sure.
Its finished now all it needs is furniture and for the government to turn on power and water
