Erick Rabsatt extradited to BVI, charged for 2021 murder

Erick Rabsatt has been extradited to the British Virgin Islands and charged with the 2021 murder of Jaimez Stoutt, police confirmed this week.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said the 23-year-old was formally charged on Friday, September 5, at 2 pm for the murder of Stoutt, 31, which occurred on December 11, 2021.

Rabsatt remains in custody and is expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court early next week, depending on the court’s availability.

Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool described the arrest as a breakthrough for the community.

“The return and charging of Mr Rabsatt represent a significant step in delivering justice for the family of Jaimez Stoutt and for the people of this territory. This case has weighed heavily on the community for nearly four years, and I want to reassure the public that the RVIPF will continue to relentlessly pursue those who seek to commit violence in our territory,” Vanterpool said.

The Acting Commissioner added that no one is beyond the reach of justice and said the force remains committed to protecting local communities and ensuring that those responsible for serious crimes are held fully accountable.

Stoutt, a businessman and US Army veteran, was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Free Bottom, Tortola, in December 2021. The incident shocked the territory and led police to launch a wide search for Rabsatt, who fled shortly after the shooting. In January 2022, the RVIPF issued a wanted notice and appealed to the public for assistance.

Authorities in the United States detained Rabsatt in April 2025 after he was flagged by border patrol officers in St Thomas. He remained in US custody for several months while extradition proceedings were finalised. His return to the Virgin Islands was delayed in August due to what officials called a medical emergency, but he was eventually brought back to Tortola in September under police escort.

The RVIPF thanked the public for its patience during the investigation and reminded residents that enquiries into the murder are still ongoing. Officials said further updates will be provided as the case progresses.

The murder of Jaimez Stoutt is one of several high-profile cases in recent years that have put pressure on law enforcement to crack down on violent crime in the territory.

Unlike the BVI,where murderers and other crinals areevidently enabled to getawy..hop on a boat and sail away within minutes of c their public and publicly seen and x witnessed crimes. All this will end prior to Trump’s departurand it won’t be pretty for these BVI but well deserved.
