Erickson murder fugitive ‘Small Brent’ fled BVI — Vanterpool

Acting Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool

The main suspect wanted in the murder of Nyron Erickson is no longer in the Virgin Islands, Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool confirmed during a recent press conference.

Vanterpool disclosed that the individual, John Dawn Emmanuel, widely referred to as “Small Brent,” is believed to have left the jurisdiction.

“I can confirm based on our investigations that that person is no longer within our jurisdiction and has left,” she told reporters.

The fugitive was being sought in connection with the fatal shooting of Erickson, who was gunned down in the western area of Tortola earlier this year. The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said the investigation into Erickson’s death remains active and ongoing.

The Acting Commissioner did not reveal how or when the suspect managed to escape the territory, nor the location to which he is believed to have fled.

The update comes amid a recent spike in gun-related violence in the territory. In addition to Erickson’s murder, two other men have been killed by gunfire in 2025 — Quentin Noel of Purcell Estate in January and most recently, firefighter Eric Albert in Greenland, East End on June 20.

“These are not statistics, these are lives lost, families broken and communities shaken,” Vanterpool said.

She told the media that the RVIPF has increased intelligence-led patrols and continues to work closely with regional and international partners. Officers are also urging the public to continue sharing information that could help solve ongoing cases and prevent future violence.

“We recognise that despite your partnership, the escalation of violent crime, particularly firearm-related incidents, continues to be an area of major concern,” Vanterpool added. The Acting Commissioner reiterated that the police force will remain relentless in its operations and investigations.

“Let me be clear, we will not relent,” she asserted. The RVIPF is encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact the intelligence unit at 368-9339 or call anonymously at 800-8477 (TIPS).

But of course,he “fled “. They all do as evidenced by the digit numbered unsolved.
They couldn’t have had successful fleeing and in some cases, openly residing in this miniscule island without the able assist of those locals who are charged with our Governing and protection.
For starters, our borders are wide open with no pretense of anything otherwise..
We can only imagine the flood gate of conspirators if names and details of persons implicated, if a “Small Brent”was arrested and charged and or those who sheltered him in broad daylight and who facilitated his ” escape “while his likeness photo and description was plastered caribbean wide
… A man whose face and identity is known and recognized by the public, police and officials up n down the Caribbean chain and abroad.
These VI is overdue for another reckoning as happened with a former Premier.
