Fahie attends first overseas meeting, Wheatley Acting Premier
Premier Andrew Fahie is away from the territory for his first official regional meeting since becoming the leader of government business.
Premier Fahie is attending a special meeting of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Authority in Guadeloupe
He will be away from March 14 to 16 and during his absence, interim Deputy Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley will serve as acting Premier of the territory.
Meanwhile, the aforesaid special meeting Premier Fahie is attending is in recognition of Guadeloupe’s formal accession to associate membership in the OECS.
This assession officially went under consideration in June 2018.
The two-day meeting — which is the first encounter between OECS heads and the President of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe — will see Premier Fahie making an address on Thursday.
“Chairman of the OECS Authority Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves; Director General of the OECS Authority, Dr Didacus Jules; and President Chalus will also address Thursday’s opening ceremony,”
“Premier Fahie will join the other OECS heads in offering supporting interventions for Guadeloupe’s membership at this special meeting. The BVI is an Associate Member of the OECS Authority.”
