Fahie’s trial delayed again

Disgraced former Premier, Andrew Fahie

Former premier Andrew Fahie will now be tried next Monday, January 29 after his trial date was pushed back again.

Fahie is before a Miami court on charges of drug smuggling, money laundering and racketeering and his trial was expected to begin on January 8, but was pushed back by two weeks and expected to commence today.

However, Justice Kathleen Williams announced in a paperless motion on Friday, January 19 that the former Premier’s trial has been moved back by a further week.

Justice Williams was expected to hear arguments from both sides about introducing foreign law jury instructions and expert witnesses into the trial, the issue of hearsay testimony, a possible entrapment defence and other matters that recently arose.

Fahie’s defence attorney, Theresa Van Vliet, objected to what she described as the prosecution’s ‘eleventh-hour’ motions that were filed just three weeks before the trial was expected to commence and asked that the court dismiss them.

Van Vliet contended at the time that the motions raised several crucial issues for the first time.

Fahie was nabbed along with his co-defendant, former BVI Ports Director Oleanvine Maynard in Miami in April 2022 after he allegedly conspired with Maynard and her son, Kadeem Maynard and agreed to allow large amounts of cocaine to pass through BVI’s ports.

The illicit scheme was part of a multi-million dollar deal Fahie allegedly made with an undercover informant of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who was posing as a drug trafficker at the time.

Kadeem was recently sentenced to 57 months in prison after accepting a plea deal for his role. His mother, Oleanvine has also pleaded guilty and accepted a plea deal and is expected to be the prosecution’s main witness once the trial commences.

The former Premier is facing possible life imprisonment if convicted on the charges brought against him by the United States government and has been confined to his daughters’ home in Miami, Florida as part of his $1 million bond conditions.

You mean the colonial masters and their partners’ white magic and psychics hired as consultants at work which they used to enslave people for years and always have the people they trying to enslave or destroy focus on each other rather than them.

It’s a USA government ops. that he got stung in his derrière with by a thorny rose and a rhino beetle who laid the groundwork.

Every delay and motion is more time to stress his heart out and legal bill costs eating into his funds that aren’t being frozen/looked into.

WHO REMEMBERS WHEN THE PREMIER SAID THIS IN AN ARTICLE:

“2023 will also see the return of a VI Music Festival to help develop and bolster the tourism sector through the development of entertainment tourism. Again, this is an effort to provide more value to our product and improve the experience of our visitors while attracting new ones,” Dr Wheatley stated.

      Former TB’s staff response:

Mr Skelton, the Deputy Director of Tourism, told our news centre today, November 30, 2022, that for the event to become a reality, “two hundred and fifty thousand dollars minimum and six months notice” will be required.

    • Plea deal. Agreed. says:

A no case submission is a good try, If that failed then a plea deal makes all the sense in the World..Here is the problem, the DEA going to want him to give up all that he knows and be their key witness. I don’t think Foy will do that. THAT’S WHY THERE IS NO PLEA DEAL AS YET.

    • No says:

Her sentence is contingent upon her testimony at his trial. If they get a conviction then she receives a lighter sentence. If her testimony doesn’t help to render a guilty verdict then her sentence will likely be harsher. Her life is literally dependent on hercooperation and the weight it carries at his trial.

I recall while off island, reading an international newspaper so me vthe ’90s or early 20’s,seeing Andrew’s name linked to money laundering along with some Santo Domingo cohorts in the VI. Allyo went and elected him soon after again and again. The VI knew that c Abdrew was/ uscsgafy. It was a joke as long as he dished out money and “scholarships”, recording contracts, homes etc to his VIP favorites friend and family . NDP supporters no matter how aged or needy simply bypassed and shat on..,I glad this overdue reckoning is here. Andrew himself arranged it all,he,his goatmouth and Lucifer.
No matter what judgment is handed down, this is Blak and as BlackHistory as it can get courtesy of Andrew Fahie and his NDP D1 enablers and their devil religious practices.

unfortunatly this is the face of the BVI and how we see all the HOA members and public officials in the BVI. The COI was supposed to clean up this mess and get the BVI back on track. Im so embarrassed to think they think they are above the law. Backed into a corner and all you can here is colonialism. Never heard one Goverment official condemn Andrew. Its just accepted as the norm.
One bad apple tipped over the whole cart. Im not saying all the officials are bad but this is how they are precieved.
