Fast and pray before new governor arrives
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has called the community to a time of prayer and fasting from January 19 to 25, just a few days before new Governor Daniel Pruce takes office.
The week of prayer and fasting began with churches praying for specific areas and will culminate with a Service of Unity on Thursday, January 25 at 4:30 pm at the Queen Elizabeth II Park.
Premier Wheatley said the territory has been confronted with various challenges since the start of the year, and it is therefore important to seek divine guidance and intervention while acknowledging the Lord’s unwavering blessings.
He also encouraged the Christian community to lead their respective congregations into a territory-wide special time of prayer and fasting.
“Many persons have been citing the need for prayer for the territory. I, too, believe in the power of prayer, so I am calling on the churches to lead this charge,” Premier Wheatley said.
A statement from the government said the public is invited to join the BVI Christian Council and other churches in collective prayer and fasting, praise and supplication as the government seeks God’s direction in the future political, socio-economic, and spiritual trajectory of the territory.
Premier Wheatley’s call to prayer and fasting will remind many of his predecessor Andrew Fahie, who regularly called on the name of God during his tenure and frequently attended church services with members of his Cabinet.
In the documents that detail the sting operation that US drug enforcement agents staged to pin Fahie to cocaine trafficking, it’s alleged that Fahie prayed many times before he began discussions with the law enforcers who were posing as drug traffickers.

Natalio should hold his team accountable to high standards publicly (not allow thieving and corruption like his ministers do) and privately pray to whoever he wants.

How many of us are delusional? I don’t even remember the last Governor’s name. The fact is, the former governor will be passing off UK’s “to do list” to the new incoming governor. Fasting and praying won’t help this. The new governor will not be throwing away UK’s “to do list” . If he does, he will be replaced by the UK immediately. The Premier knows or should know this.
