Flax-Charles vows to continue advocating for the people
Although she was not elected to serve a second term in office, former At-Large Representative Shereen Flax-Charles has stated that she will continue to advocate for the people just as she did when she served as an elected representative.
Speaking on ZBVI’s Morning Show with host Paul Hewlett, Flax-Charles said she will be working in other areas now that she isn’t serving as an elected leader, but she admitted that advocacy and community building are embedded within her.
“I will continue to advocate and agitate for the people of the territory. Some persons were disappointed, some persons said I should move on and do other things. I will be doing other things but it is embedded in me that I have to be an advocate for our people and our community. So, that never goes away,” Flax-Charles explained. She added that the support she received after the election confirmed that people still need her to work on their behalf.
“I must say the people of Tortola embraced me. I came off the ferry and everybody was reaching out, people blew their horns as they passed by so I understand that the people still need me and I have to be there. I have no regrets at all because everything you do is a learning experience and you get wiser,” Flxx-Charles explained.
Before the election, Flax-Charles had resigned from the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) and joined the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM). She ran for the seat of District 9 but lost to incumbent Vincent Wheatley.
While in office, Flax-Charles was known as an outspoken leader who often spoke passionately and even criticized decisions made by her own party.

We the public officers thank the 9th District voting public for removing this rude, disrespectful and unprofessional lady from politics. I am a woman and believe more women need to be at the leadership table but not ones who have no respect and always bitter and have wicked thoughts and actions and do not know how to speak to people in a respectful manner. This lady also has challenges with the truth. Thank you so much District 9 Voters. Let her go back to trying to be a singer while milking tourist board for her band only.

… that she was absent for most of the last 4 years, that she appeared every now and again to shout and scream about something relatively irrelevant before disappearing again, that she was mostly hot air, and that people who did not like Vincent voted for him in order to keep her out of the HoA.
Did she ever hand back the apartment that the Government rented and her son allegedly lived in whilst she was a member of the HoA – she did not stay in the apartment and would insist that the Government paid for a private water taxi to take her back to VG.
She was a loud, waste of time and money – and was resoundingly beaten by Vincent.
