Flow technicians progressing with post-storm repairs

The following is a media release from local telecoms giants, Flow.

Leading telecommunications provider Flow has begun a massive restoration drive to reconnect its residential and business customers following the passage of Tropical Storm Ernesto in the Territory on Tuesday, August 13.

Connectivity has been restored to affected mobile sites in Virgin Gorda North, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada, and restoration efforts are continuing on Tortola at the company’s Chalwell and Long Swamp Fibre Distribution Points which connect broadband customers in areas such as Great Mountain, Spooners Estate, Cane Garden Bay, Chalwell, and Fat Hog’s Bay to the Airport. In Virgin Gorda, restoration continues in North Sound and the Valley.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Nadia A. James said, “We understand the importance of connectivity for our customers in resuming their daily lives and we thank them for their patience during this restoration phase. We are committed to restoring connectivity and having most of our broadband customers back online before the weekend.” James explained,

“Our goal is to have the repairs completed quickly at our main fiber distribution points which should automatically reconnect internet services in affected communities. Our technicians will then proceed to investigate customer faults as they are reported.”

Flow customers who are experiencing service interruptions due to impacts from the storm or recovery efforts, are invited to report a fault via WhatsApp Message to 1284-544-4444 on Tortola or 1284-544-0189 on Virgin Gorda.

Reports can be made from Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm and to the Regional Customer Care Team at 1800-804-2994 from 5pm to 9am. Customers are also requested to provide their account information when making a report.

  1. BVI says:

Put all cables undergrown then we won’t be having all of these problems.

  2. Derivative and heartless says:

Forty years and counting and nothing has changed since my years i Handsome Bay.

TV, frig, electronic devices and my way of life were all destroyed.

Then, the company flat out refused to pay up.

Had to go with life and replace items that i did not destroy..

This and other kinds of abuses upon the weak, poor and disorganized masses will continue until the people stop being abused, get out and rebel, and demand better from cooperation’s and government. As, those entities are just people who hide behind a name to remain unaccountable, derivative and heartless.

  3. What a ting says:

At one point Cable & Wireless who have now become flow had close to 90% of their main cables underground, now they probably have less than 60%.

  4. West End says:

Perhaps the penny pinchers at FLOW could provide for a back-up power source at their West End cell tower? When the power goes down, cell service dies with it. This is unsafe, a completely hazardous scenario.

    • Truth says:

It’s not West End alone. It’s all over. Whenever the power goes all service goes with it. Even the landlines are now run through fiber so when the power goes they go too, which defeats the whole purpose of having a landline, and yes, it is completely unsafe as you are left without any means of calling for help in the event of an accident or other emergency.
