Peter Penfold was a man of courage and high principles. My wife and I were fortunate that he was Governor of the territory at the time I was fighting for access to my three children of a former marriage. With the help of his aide, Alan Penrith, he ensured – regardless of the prominent families involved – that we received fair treatment and access to the court.

Thank you Admin for posting my comment, albeit as a persona non grata. I notice that yesterday you reported my son’s critical opinion of the island’s past and present governors. Unfortunately Floyd was too young to remember the brave efforts Peter Penfold made on his behalf.

May I suggest that you add to your news release the following:

After serving as Governor of the British Virgin Islands Peter Penfold was appointed High Commissioner to Sierra Leone. In Sierra Leone he was widely considered a hero for his controversial role in restoring Kabbah. While he was giving evidence to the UK inquiry, 20,000 people took part in a demonstration demanding his return to Sierra Leone, and upon his arrival he was appointed an honorary Paramount Chief.
