Former BVI Ports MD’s sentence hearing moved again

Former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority Oleanvine Maynard.

In a surprising turn of events, the sentencing for Oleanvine Pickering Maynard has been pushed back once again despite a previous note that prosecutors would not be granted further extensions.

It is not immediately clear why the court issued a new date for the hearing. However, a notice on the court’s docket stated that Maynard’s sentencing hearing was now reset for June 20 in a Miami Division Court before Judge Kathleen Williams.

Maynard, who confessed to being involved in a drug trafficking conspiracy led by former Premier Andrew Fahie, had her sentencing date pushed back several times since her guilty plea last year.

The former ports boss was the main witness in the prosecution’s case against Fahie, telling a Miami court she helped the convicted former Premier plan a Hollywood-style drug and money laundering conspiracy to smuggle thousands of kilos of cocaine through the territory’s waters and hide the proceeds expected from their efforts.

Her sentence was initially set for August 21, 2023, after she pleaded guilty to her role in the conspiracy and agreed to testify against Fahie at his trial in exchange for lenience from the court at sentencing.

The court shifted that date as repeated delays arose with the start of Fahie’s trial.

Maynard’s son, Kadeem Stephan Maynard, was sentenced on November 20, 2023, to serve 57 months in prison after he pleaded guilty last year to a single count of conspiracy to import cocaine.

Meanwhile, Fahie’s sentencing was also postponed from April 29 to June 25 after his attorney requested additional time.

Fahie’s attorney, Theresa Van Vliet, asked the court to set a later sentencing date because it conflicted with a paid vacation she had already booked. She also cited the need for more time to finalise potential objections to the presentence report.

Today, June 4th, 2024, I am going to venture out on a Limb and say ” Don’t be surprise when you see Maynard and Head Coach appear in BVI.” Just consider that whole scene was a Soap Opera. I am not saying they were not into some nasty stuff, But that whole thing was not REAL. Why didn’t the US Authorities wait until the actual scene had played out? Conspiracy yes, But where? In BVI. Time will tell. Remember this date.
