Former Ports boss to testify against Fahie
Former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority, Oleanvine Pickering Maynard, is expected to testify against former Premier Andrew Fahie when his drug and money laundering trial begins in January next year.
This is according to a report out of the Miami Herald based in Florida where the trial is expected to be held.
Maynard’s son, Kareem Maynard, 32, pleaded guilty earlier this year to a single count of conspiracy to import cocaine and was sentenced last week to 57 months in prison with a five-year period of supervised release after his sentence.
Kadeem obtained a prison term below the sentencing guidelines of 11 to 14 years from US District Judge Kathleen Williams after he agreed to a plea bargain with prosecutors and they dropped additional charges that he faced previously.
In his plea arrangement, Kadeem insisted that he only had a minor role in the cocaine and money laundering scheme that shook the territory when it was revealed nearly two years ago.
According to Kadeem, he simply introduced the DEA informant posing as a drug cartel member to his mother, and coordinated meetings between the informant, his mother and the former Premier. Despite his relatively light sentence, the Herald reported that Kadeem is not expected to offer any testimony against Fahie.
In her plea agreement, Oleanvine Maynard admitted that she introduced the informant to Fahie and together they used their authority to facilitate the purported cocaine-smuggling plan.
Her plea agreement requires that she testify against Fahie, but her attorney, Raymond D’Arsey Houlihan with the Federal Public Defender’s Office, declined to offer any comment to the Herald.
Meanwhile, Fahie continues to remain at his daughters’ home in Florida on a $1 million bond. Fahie was initially arrested with Maynard and charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering, attempted money laundering, conspiracy to import cocaine and later slapped with charges of racketeering as well.
His attorney, Theresa Van Vliet, told the Herald that Fahie did not intend to seek a plea deal and wanted to fight the charges vigorously in court once his trial came up.
Maynard is scheduled for sentencing on January 18, 2024, just 10 days after the start of Fahie’s trial on January 8, 2024.

Coach knew exactly what he was doing. He was not gullible nor tricked into these transactions. Let the full truth come out and he go away for a long time. He disrespected us and cheated us and must now pay.

This is how the US justice system works. Indict, (in this case for conspiracy), up the ante with threats of long imprisonment should you not capitulate, get one or more of the alleged co-conspirators to flip on the other in exchange for a lesser sentence, and then move on to conviction the lone hold out.
I’ve said these things before, and I will repeat:
1. Head Coach is entitled to due process. He is innocent until proven guilty.
2. I think he is in a very bad place, and is rolling the dice on his freedom by going to trial. He is entitled to do so.
3. The fact that the government has 2 of the alleged co-conspirators in the alleged conspiracy in their corner as direct or indirect witnesses is a tough position for him to be in.
It places him at high risk for a conviction which will result in a very long prison sentence.
4. We the public have not seen all the evidence from the government’s side or Head Coach’s defense; however, based on all media reports I have read, I believe the best Head Coach can hope for here is a hung jury.
Now, to “El Demonio Negro”. Surely, you should know that if someone had allegedly approached Head Coach with talk about allowing drugs to be brought into the country for a cost, he could have always said NO THANKS and kept walking. He could have also had them arrested.
You don’t allegedly go to some secret house in Tortola to discuss the deal further. You don’t allegedly go to Miami under alleged false pretense of some Cruise ship conference only to go to Opa-Locka airport to allegedly inspect the money of your presumed ill gotten gains on a plane allegedly heading to Tortola. You simply don’t.
From my viewpoint, this simply does not look good for Head Coach. He got blanked by his own political rhetoric here at home with his attacks on the U.K.
IMO, they (the U.K.) saw an opening to take him down. They got wind of his alleged illicit dealings, and in coordination with the U.S. authorities sat his @$$ up to do just that. He was too arrogant and greedy to see what was happening until it was too late.
For those watching this case, just a reminder:
Want to avoid a similar faith? Stay away from drugs, either in the sale of or as a consumer of. The price you will pay is either a jail cell or the grave yard.
These two options does not have be options for you. There is a better option: Work for an honest living and live within you means.
Now, finally, I got to give it up to the person who put up the bail money for Head Coach. Whatever we may think of Head Coach, his guilt or his innocence, at least he had what I would consider a true friend who had his back to help him get out of jail and placed under house arrest until his trial.
The Premier was operating his own STING operation and was going to turn all the evidence over to the authorities after the money they checked on reached the BVI. Scouts honor.
