The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has arrested and charged four individuals following the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and drugs during targeted searches at two residences.
According to an RVIPF press release issued today, officers seized an AR-15 rifle, a 9mm Glock pistol, 52 rounds of ammunition, and 260 grams of cannabis during the operations. The discovery led to the detention and subsequent charging of four individuals.
Raheem Blyden, 32, of Crabbe Lot, has been charged with three counts of possession of explosives, possession of a prohibited weapon, keeping an unlicensed firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another.
Meanwhile, Shaika Jeffers, 31, Ayana Lennard, 29, and Chad George, 21, all of Sophie Bay, have been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of explosives.
Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool has raised concerns over the escalating number of illegal firearms and ammunition recovered so early in the year.
“Although we are just ten weeks into the year, we have recovered more rounds of ammunition than there are days in the year,” Vanterpool stated.
She commended RVIPF officers for their dedication but stressed that the surge in illegal firearms presents a serious threat to public safety.
With these latest seizures, the total number of firearms recovered this year now stands at eight. This comes just a week after the RVIPF reported the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of two firearms as part of investigations into recent robberies.
Vanterpool described the situation as a wake-up call and urged the community to support law enforcement efforts.
“This reality should serve as a wake-up call to all law-abiding citizens. It is imperative that we unite in support of the RVIPF and other law enforcement agencies in their relentless efforts to combat gun violence and criminal activity,” she said.
“Only through collective action can we ensure that the BVI remains one of the safest places to live, work, and vacation.”
The RVIPF reaffirmed its commitment to removing illegal weapons from communities and enhancing public safety. Residents with any information related to illegal firearms or criminal activities are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS) or reach out to the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

Nice picture. Now, tell me, why would these people have an AR-15, a 9mm Glock pistol, and 52 rounds of ammunition, not to mention to 260 grams of weed?
Clearly they are up to no good, and had the means to unalive somebody.
If they are all proven guilty of the charges, lock them up! Lets hope the DPP office does not fumble the ball.
This place is apparently washed in illegal guns. It appears no matter how many guns the RVIPF confiscate, there are more to be confiscated.
Thanks to the RVIPF for first making these arrests and getting those guns off the streets, and secondly for putting a face to these alleged criminals.
If I was walking down the road, and saw any one of these people, I would not think they are/were involved in criminal behavior saved for the one guy on the right who looks kind of shady.
Now, we have some idea who these people are. They look like regulars.
Now, I don’t know if they were all arrested because they fail to individually take ownership of the guns and weed and as such they are all being charged.
If any of them have any sense left, they would start talking to save their behinds, or go to Balsum Ghut together. Don’t do time for something you are not guilty of. Think it over.
Anyway, they will have their day in court. Should they be convicted, they need the mandatory time in jail for illegal gun possession, and those who qualify for deportation, need a one way ticket out of here never to return again.
I’ve had it with these people who have ruined this country with their drugs and guns.
