Four to be honoured at 2017 NLBC Award Service

PRESS RELEASE: 

The New Life Baptist Church (NLBC) will be honouring four persons at this year’s annual Unsung Heroes Award Service.

Being honoured this year are former Deputy Governor, Mr Elton Georges; nurse turned chef, Mrs Jennifer Bertie; teacher, Mrs Daisy Simmonds; and collegiate basketball hall-of-famer, Mr Keith ‘88’ Malone.

The honourees were chosen by a selection committee and approved by senior officials of the New Life Baptist Church.

Mr Georges is being honoured for his years of service in the public sector as an educator and former Deputy Governor. He is also being recognised for the significant impacts he has made to the community during his tenure as a public servant.

Mrs Jennifer Bertie is being honoured for her years of service as a nurse and her remarkable commitment in the medical industry.

Mrs Daisy Simmonds was chosen for her iconic role as one of the few establishments that set the standard for early learning in the education field.

Mr Keith ‘88’ Malone  is  being honoured for his significant contribution in developing the sport of basketball in the territory. Mr Malone is also being honoured for his role in opening the gate for sport tourism and educating athletics throughout the territory via basketball.

The ceremony to honour these individuals will happen as apart of the regularly scheduled church service with segments that feature tributes to each honouree.

Come join the leadership and members of the New Life Baptist Church this Sunday, February 26th at 10am as they celebrate the heroes among us.

Last year’s honourees included former Commissioner of Police, Mr Reynell Frazer;  teacher Mrs H. Lynden Smith; youth ambassador, Mr Craig Lake; and NLBC Honouree, Ms Donna Clyne
