FSN, Digicel remain partners for continued relief

CEO of Digicel BVI, Kevin Gordon

PRESS RELEASE: In the aftermath of one of the worst storms to impact the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in 30 years, Digicel remains committed to the relief efforts through a partnership with the Family Support Network (FSN), with a text to donate platform.

Customers can text ‘Donate’ to 5151 for the next two weeks. Text messages cost US$1 each and all funds raised will go to the FSN.

Digicel has already made its own initial contribution of US $2000 to the FSN and is encouraging its customers to exhibit the caring and community spirit they have already shown in the immediate clean-up effort, by giving generously if they are able to assist.

Sadly, many families and businesses were affected by the flash flooding.  The families are in dire need of items such as: household appliances, linen and bedding, which can be directly donated to the FSN at their Road Town location.

With the potential threat of a higher than average hurricane season, Digicel has shifted its hurricane resilience plan into high gear.

Commenting on Digicel’s preparedness for the hurricane season, Digicel’s BVI CEO, Kevin Gordon noted: “We have done everything possible to be ready and able to ensure that from our point of view, our network is checked, stocked, and ready and our technical team and field engineers have been mobilised across the territory.

“Specifically, Digicel has ensured that all of its cell sites across the Territory have plenty of fuel and that backup generators are in fully functional.
