Governor joins VISAR
Governor Augustus Jaspert has joined the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) team.
The Governor Jaspert has taken on the role of Patron of VISAR.
He took on the role during the organisation’s annual general meeting on February 26.
“I am proud and honoured to be the Patron of VISAR, an organisation of dedicated individuals who have been working for 30 years to keep the waters of the BVI safe for everyone and widely considered to be a shining example for the region,” the Governor said in a VISAR release this week.
According to the release, BVI Governors have had a ‘close history’ with VISAR since 1988.
“The late John Mark Ambrose Herdman (Governor of the BVI from 1986 -1991) was the first Governor patron to take up the mantle of patronage,” the media release said.
Meanwhile, President of VISAR’s board of directors, Gerard Kraakman said he is pleased Governor Jaspert has joined the 30-year-old organisation.
