Gov’t approves additional help to transport arriving tourists
The government recently made it possible for approved hotels, resorts, and charter companies to transport arriving tourists from ports of entry to quarantine facilities.
A statement from the government said these hospitality companies will also be allowed to provide transportation services to guests who require it on the fourth day of quarantine when they would be required to take another COVID-19 test.
When the territory initially opened its borders to tourists on December 1, only vehicles verified by the government’s Approved Transportation (GAT) system were allowed to provide transportation services to arriving travellers.
But according to the government, allowing approved companies in the hospitality industry to provide transportation services will “reduce the present demands on the ‘Government Approved Transportation’ services”.
The government has also indicated that only hotels, resorts, and charter companies with approved Gold Sealed transportation services are being used.
Such companies also fall under the direct authority of the Director of the Taxi & Livery Commission.
