Government is creating a database of contractors to carry out home repairs across the British Virgin Islands.
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Health and Social Development’s Hurricane Irma Housing Recovery Plan.
Contractors are invited to populate the database by registering. Registration ends on Friday, January 26.
“The contractors who register will comprise a database of qualified contractors that will be accessible to make the tender process for housing projects more efficient,” the ministry said in a media release.
Persons who register may be issued contracts to repair homes directly by the government or by other funding agencies, the release further said.
According to a situation analysis presented by the Department of Disaster Management and the National Emergency Operations Centre after the hurricanes, some 4,240 households were damaged or destroyed.
Requirements to register for database
Eligible contractors must have at least five years experience in the construction field and must submit a cover letter outlining their interest and projects they have undertaken.
“This should be accompanied by a valid trade licence; certificates of good standing from Inland Revenue, Social Security Board, and the National Health Insurance.”
Documents must be addressed to Permanent Secretary, Petrona Davies and submitted to the Ministry of Health and Social Development at the Old Peebles Hospital Annex in Road Town.
