The Department of Youth Affairs & Sports is launching a youth centre on April 9.

This facility — which is branded the Be YOUth Centre — is being described as a space where young persons across the Virgin Islands can share, grow, and create in an innovative environment.

A media release from the government said the centre will be accessible to registered persons between 15 to 29 years old.

And according to the government, the centre will offer development programmes including résumé-writing, team building, interviewing skills, time management, graphic design, production, trade skill workshops, and other fields related to young people.

Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Brenda Lettsome-Tye said: “The Be YOUth Centre will be a key resource for our youth and will be the first of a series of youth centres that we hope to open throughout the entire Virgin Islands including our sister islands.”

The department did not specify where the first location will be.

Meanwhile, registered ‘Be YOUth Centre’ users will be able to access the core services for a monthly fee of $10 a month.
