Gov’t seeks help finding missing Colombian
The public is being asked to help find Monica Marcela Pineda of Colombia. Pineda travelled to the territory via cruise ship Norwegian Sky on Sunday, April 28 and has neither returned to the ship nor departed the territory legally.
The appeal from the Immigration Department comes just one day after an appeal for vigilance from the public over suspicious persons or activity as they seek to locate illegal migrants reported to be in the territory.
On Thursday, April 25, the Immigration Department received a tip of suspected illegal migrant activity on Peter Island.
The department sought the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, HM Customs and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), which activated the Joint Task Force.
Two Indian national migrants were since located and it is suspected that at least 10 other migrants of varying nationalities remain on the island.
The officers of the Joint Task Force continue to search the island and other locations for the remaining migrants, the department said.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Immigration Department at 468-4705, 468-4717, 468-4754 or the RVIPF at 311.

This does not look good on the cruise ships that is docking in the BVI. Bad publicity on the cruise industry. This is happening to often. Someone is assisting those people when they get off the ship in the BVI. The illegals is using the cruise ships as a way to get into the BVI. Can’t get mad if the cruise ships decide not come to the BVI.
We have a fair population of persons residing in the BVI who live beneath the radar, many of whom are designated persons. I know of a female who has been denied work permit who refuses to leave the BVI. I reiterate she has no permit to work and is not working.
all cruisers who go ashore in the BVI. There are plenty of security guards in the BVI so assign one guard to every cruiser who steps off the ship.
Don’t let those foreigners spoil the BVI!!!
I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that a smooth brained thought like this was approved to be printed or that someone actually thinks that such “security guards” are here to escort visitors in such a capacity.
2000 security guards? – you obviously are NOT a business minded person.
Immigration is the department ‘losing’ these cruise ship passengers then asking the public for help finding them. If a security guard for each individual cruiser is too costly then hire more Immigration officers to ‘escort’ every cruiser who goes ashore in the BVI. The BVI government waste millions of dollars on useless but expensive concerts so it can easily afford to pay more Immigration officers for escorting cruisers ashore then back to the ship before it leaves the BVI.
The usual under the table happening by Government / workers, hustling in illegal visitors, guns ammunition, drugs, wads of cash,..just imagine they
Glory if this VI becomes Independent as they hope.
through the BVI. They likely do not have VISA to go to USA so will come here and someone will “take” them to USVI.
so how we gon tackle this it seem like this the new illegal migration trend for 2024. We got to keep a eye on everybody who come here from Columbia now?
Thus ain’t first time crazy
AH WONDER WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE.. MAYBE REVEREND TURNBULL CAN TAKE A SHOT AT IT. NO WORRIES, EVERYTHING STRAIGHT. NO CORRUPTION. SO THE SHIP’S PERSONEL GIVE THEM BACK THEIR PASSPORTS WHENEVER THEY GO ASHORE?? IS IT JUST COINCIDENT THAT IT IS THE SAME NAMED SHIP?? BUT WE ARE SAFE. NO NEED TO WORRY.
