Gov’t tells InterCaribbean to fix service failures
Minister for Communication and Works, Kye Rymer, has addressed InterCaribbean Airways regarding the inadequate service levels the airline has reportedly been providing to travelers from the Virgin Islands.
Numerous public complaints have surfaced about delays, cancellations, and other service-related issues with the regional airline. In response, Rymer convened urgent discussions with InterCaribbean’s executives, including CEO Trevor Sadler and Chief Operations Officer Craig Chapple.
According to a joint media release from the Ministry of Communications and the BVI Airports Authority, the airline’s executives attributed the service issues to technical problems with their aircraft and ongoing staffing challenges.
Rymer said the airline has been instructed to urgently resolve these issues.
“The Government of the Virgin Islands is committed to the well-being of our residents and visitors. We have urged InterCaribbean Airways to accelerate their efforts to rectify these issues and restore the standard of service that our community expects and deserves,” Rymer stated.
The airline’s executives have indicated that they are actively working to resolve the issues, while the government has stated it will monitor the situation closely.
No timeline was provided for when the public can expect improvements from the airline. This news of service issues with InterCaribbean comes on the heels of an announcement by Caribbean Airlines about the launch of new routes to the territory, effective October 14 of this year.
