Gun part found in mail allegedly from USVI
As the BVI continues to grapple with a troubling rise in gun crimes, BVI News understands that a firearm part was recently mailed into the territory — raising fresh concerns about the methods being used to get illegal weapons into the community.
It’s alleged that customs officers discovered the package last week, during a routine inspection of incoming parcels at the Road Town Ferry Port.
The package information reportedly stated that a different item was inside, but upon further observation, the authorities discovered a slide — a key component of a semi-automatic pistol — hidden inside a box.
Further investigations allegedly revealed that the package was possibly shipped from the United States mainland via the United States Postal Service to the U.S. Virgin Islands before being transported to the BVI through a local courier company.
When contacted, the local courier company reportedly told BVI authorities that the sender was not a regular customer. The item was reportedly taken for further processing by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.
This discovery comes amid growing concern about the increasing number of guns circulating in the BVI. Recent government data shows a 13 percent rise in reported crime between January and July of this year compared to the same period in 2024, with firearm-related incidents remaining among the most serious offences.
In the last few months alone, there have been multiple reports of armed robberies, daylight shootings, and high-speed pursuits involving suspected gunmen.

The mail company! Many of the now mail services are heavily part of criminal activity. That mail person who said that person ain’t no regular customer is as dangerous as those who say them have facebook but don’t using it like “ That” – do a proper investigation and arrest all who guilty
