The Virgin Gorda police are hunting a gunman who they said broke into a business establishment on the sister island.

Police said the establishment is a construction company, which the gunman targeted for funds that would have been used to pay workers employed with the business.

“Inquiries suggest that the assailant came expecting funds made available by the contractor to be on the site located on Towers Road in the Valley. However, those funds had not arrived by that time,” police said in a media release Monday afternoon, April 23.

He reportedly broke into the premises last Friday, April 20.

“The gunman fled the premises with personal funds from one member of staff and a construction worker,” police said.

The suspect is described as being six feet tall with a dark complexion.

He was dressed in full black with a mask on his face at the time of the break-in, police said.

“Persons with information into the identity of this suspect are asked to contact the Virgin Gorda Police Station directly or call the RVIPF access number 311. Persons can also call the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339. All information will be held in the strictest confidence.”
