Gunmen attempt to rape maid in Slaney Hill robbery
While the police try to stem robberies in the community, it seems some perpetrators are now carrying out more heinous acts whenever they attempt to terrorise homes and businesses.
BVI News has received information that a domestic worker narrowly escaped rape when two armed men broke into her employer’s house while the victim was working.
The incident happened last week at a home on Slaney Hill, while the homeowner — who works in the legal field — was at work. The gunmen reportedly broke in and demanded that the worker give them cash. When she refused, one of the thieves began searching the apartment while the other took her to a room and demanded that the victim remove her clothes and perform sexual acts.
It’s alleged that the victim was hit several times when she refused to comply. The gunmen again asked the victim for cash, and allegedly cut her with a knife when she repeatedly told them she had no money.
Our news centre was told that the victim ran from the apartment in an attempt to escape. They reportedly caught her and beat her severely. They reportedly left the apartment with cash and valuable jewellery.
Our sources say the victim has sought medical attention for her injuries. In the meantime, the police are reviewing CCTV footage and are investigating to get more information on the attackers.
However, BVI News understands that they haven’t caught the perpetrators yet.

It’s amazingly racist from people to presume that the perpetrators were not from here. People on work permits don’t need to commit these crimes because a) they have a job to be here and b) if you commit a crime you get sent away and lose everything Whereas if you are from here you can be idle and the Government pays you to cut bush or something equally mundane and if you do get caught you are likely to have your case dismissed.
This is a very perceptive and accurate comment. If BVI stops being safe for law abiding people there will be much less tourism and especially financial services. Financial services, particularly could disappear overnight.

Unfortunately, it’s time for the government/ public to consider allowing people to apply for firearm licenses for self protection. The criminals obviously have access to firearms while business owners and other law abiding citizens are sitting ducks.
