Hard Decision: Zoe tells why she skipped pageant in China
Zoe Walcott-McMillian who was crowned Mrs BVI earlier this year has revealed that the devastation that was done to the territory by Hurricane Irma largely influenced her decision not to attend the Mrs Globe pageant held in China recently.
Walcott-McMillan, who is the reigning 2017/18 Mrs BVI made the revelation in a Facebook live video earlier this week.
“My decision to not go to China was not an easy one. It was however made easier by the impact [of the hurricane],” she said.
“As a radio personality on ZBVI for 23 years, I felt it necessary to shift gears and tried to aid in the dissemination of information and fact-finding in and to the wider Virgin Islands as a result of dissension from the people on the ground.”
Meanwhile, she took the opportunity to congratulate a contestant from the Caribbean who was ranked among the final three.
“My enthusiasm for a Caribbean placement in that of Mrs Antigua and Barbuda, Mrs Ranee Thomas as the third runner-up highlights what I already knew: our greatness, value, and contribution will take centre stage when we exceed our own expectations. Keep moving the bar we set for ourselves and not limit our potential based on what others may perceive,” Walcot-McMillian remarked.
