Harneys offers scholarships valued up to $30K

Local law firm Harneys has announced that they are now accepting applications for scholarships valued at up to $30,000 per academic year. The scholarships are being offered to diligent young BVIslanders and belongers who aspire to pursue a legal or business degree at a reputable university.

The company did not state the number of scholarships that will be given but said each scholarship is valued at up to $30,000 every year for up to four years.

The law firm said the scholarship programme is dedicated to providing financial support to promising young people who demonstrate a commitment to academic and professional excellence.

In addition to the financial support, there is an internship provision which grants the opportunity to be placed within one of the firm’s many jurisdictions around the world, allowing for further exposure to varying firm dynamics and international environments, creating a well-rounded student and, by extension, a working professional.

BVI Managing Partner Tanya Cassie-Parker said: “We are proud to support the next generation of BVI students and give them the tools they need to excel in their careers. We believe that investing in education is investing in the future of our community. With offices across the globe, we are recognised internationally as an export brand from the BVI and at our core, remain a BVI firm.”

Applicants interested in applying for the scholarships may see application details here.

In addition to university scholarships, Harneys currently offers internships in its BVI office to secondary and tertiary students. The firm said it provides interns with an introduction to their practice/business area, as well as the practical application of how to think, write and operate effectively and efficiently in a professional environment.

The best part, IMHO, is “a legal or business degree” so this is not just for lawyers, could be HR, IT, Marketing, Operations. You don’t have to be a lawyer to work at Harneys.

  4. No need says:

No need to get excited if you aren’t apart of the Joneses of the BVI. They already know exactly who these scholarships will be awarded to. This public announcement is just for praise and to give false hope to struggling students and parents alike.
