Historic! Kyron McMaster earns silver medal in World Champs final
Kyron McMaster has made history by finishing second place in the men’s 400-metre hurdles final of the World Athletic Championship being held in Budapest, Hungary.
This historic run has earned him a silver medal — the first-ever medal for any British Virgin Islands athlete at World Outdoor Championship event.
McMaster finished with a time of 47.34 seconds moments ago; just behind world record-holder Karsten Warholm who ran 46.89 seconds.
The Virgin Islander out-ran the all-time second and third fastest men in the event — Rai Benjamin of the USA and Alison dos Santos of the Brazil, respectively.
McMaster the is the reigning Commonwealth Champion in the 400-metre hurdles.

This is the 2nd world medal for the BVI. Taheshia Harrigan Scott won a bronze medal in the 60m at the world indoor championships in 2008.
