Hospital, some clinics open for emergencies only, others closed for Dorian

The Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital and a few clinics on the sister islands will remain open for emergencies only as Tropical Storm Dorian approaches the British Virgin Islands today, August 28.

This is according to a message from the CEO of the BVI Health Services Authority, Dr Ronald Georges.

“Due to the impending storm Dorian, the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority would like to inform the public of the interruption of services, today, August 28, 2019. The Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital will be open for emergencies only. Persons with emergencies should call 284-852-7545,” Dr Georges said.

“The following clinics will be open to seeing emergencies only: the Nurse Iris Oneal Clinic and the North Sound Clinic (on Virgin Gorda), the Jost Van Dyke Clinic and the Romailia Smith Clinic (on Anegada),” he added.

Health centres that will be closed to the public today include the Iris Penn Smith Clinic in East End, the Rosalind Penn Clinic in Long Look, the Road Town Health Centre, the Capoons’ Bay Clinic, the Community Mental, Substance Abuse Services, Dental Health Services and Audiology Services.
